So I returned from Korea before Christmas. Gonna post instructions and a map how to reach Cube’s building, as well as JYPE and SME. But for now, Imma share scans from my 4Minute Shoemarker 2011 calendar. Yes!!! So happy!!! Got it from the Shoemarker at Itaewon. I think the one at Myeong-dong is the flagship one cause the girls shot the CFs and photoshoots there.

HOT ISSUE – 4MINUTE MAGAZINE and The Birth of Boob Idols

I don’t need to mention how hot 4Minute has been ever since they came back. Bias aside, it was the hottest comeback this year. OK, maybe a little bias there. But c’mon now. Be honest. They’re comeback was one of the best this year.

For guy groups, those who show their bodies are called beast idols. For girl groups, I say 4Minute should be called Boob idols.

Now that that’s out of the way, I’m so proud to announce that 4Minute INTL has launched its own magazine, and I’m one of the contributors. Yay!!! Here’s the (unofficial) cover I made.

Updates+Fan Account+Hiatus

It’s been a while since I blogged. Whoever still visits this blog, sorry for the lack of updates. I’ll be on hiatus for awhile. A bit busy with a project for 4Minute INTL. But once this project is finished, I swear, it will be the greatest thing evar! No joke. It will be worth all of my time, and yours too!

So anyway, if you’re a 4Minute fan and haven’t been to 4-minute.com, then shame on you! Ha! Check out the forum’s new layout – WAGW theme. Oh hell yeah. It’s so sweet I tell you.

I don’t even have time to tell you how amazing JiYoon’s Bring It Back perf last week with Hyori and Bekah on Music Core was. I really liked that song the first time I heard it, way better than Chitty x2 Bang x2. Waaaayyyy better. That song pumps me up so much each time I hear it that it wants to make me pimpslap a biatch or clothesline a punk, you know what I mean? Who cares if it was plagiarized. At least Hyori plagiarized a good song. Haha!  I’ll post gifs from that perf when I have some time. I’ve got like 300+ 4Minute gifs now. So happy! I’ll share these though.

Also, 4Minute’s Muzik in Japanese!! Anyone heard it yet? The first verse sounds kinda weird, but HyunAh’s rap was great! It was filled with angst, aggression and anger, and I like it! (Please use another word besides FIERCE. somebody retire that word already.)

Anyway, I’ll just summarize my super delayed fan account from 4Minute’s tour in PH (including Day 1 again). I posted the exact same thing at 4Minute INTL here. There are other fan accounts there too if you are interested. If you want to check out the vids from 4Minute’s Philippine tour, you can check out my youtube page @ www.youtube.com/heechulisnotgay. I was able to capture all of their perfs there, except one I think. And all the vids are in HD! Plus, there are MF links there for super HQ pics from the SM Megamall and SM North Edsa perfs.

DAY 1: (FEB 4)

After being convinced by our very own Vinnie, I decided to check out their hotel after I got out. No digicam, no cd for them to sign, no anything. And my phonecam was ancient. I was able to convince my friend to go with me and she had a Corby. And since we didn’t have anything, I again was able to convince her to buy a CD at the store just outside the hotel (like 5 steps from the entrance). While I was trying to learn how to use her Corby. The girls suddenly arrived. It was around 9:45 pm and I wasn’t expecting them at least until 10:30 pm. So this is what I ended up with.

By the time I figured out how to switch to picture mode, NamJi was the only one left, only cause she was still signing stuff.

me to JiHyun: Can I take a photo with you?
JiHyun to me: (looks at HyunAh) Sorry! (bows and leaves).

DAY 2: (FEB 5)
During the meet and greet. This was what went on as I asked the girls to sign my poster.

me to HyunAh: Hello. You’re so pretty (shakes hand).
HyunAh to me: Salamat.

me to JiYoon: Hello. (hands bouquet) This is for you (shakes hand). I’m your number 1 fan!
JiYoon to me: Wowww. Thank you.

me to GaYoon: Hello. Thank you (shakes hand).
GaYoon to me: Thank you.

me to SoHyun: Hello. You’re so pretty (shakes hand).
SoHyun to me: I think so too! (Pops index finger).

me to JiHyun: Thank you (shakes hand).
JiHyun to me: Thank you.

I actually felt guilty since I didn’t get the other girls anything. My friend gave a bouquet to HyunAh too. So before the night ended, we waited at their hotel and gave the girls one rose each. So this is after we gave the girls roses.

me to JiYoon: Can we take a picture with you? Just one.
manager to me: Were you waiting all this time?
me to manager: Yes. We came straight here after the show ended at MOA.
manager to JiYoon: (says something in Korean)
JiYoon shouting (not cause she’s angry, but cause she’s hyper): Ok! Ok! Picture!!!!

I wanted to be beside JiYoon but she told me “Center! Center!” So I went to the center instead. Haha!

meanwhile…
my friend to HyunAh (who was about to leave cause she thought she didn’t get a rose): You’re rose is with her (grabs arm and points to JiYoon).
HyunAh to my friend: (smiles, laughs)
SoHyun to my friend: A! I remember you!

DAY 3: (FEB 6)
meet and greet. This time I brought 3 white roses each for all five of the girls.

me to JiHyun: (hands roses) These are for you.
JiHyun to me: Wow. I really love roses. Thank you

me to HyunAh: Hi! Happy Valentine’s (hands roses). These mean Oh-Bang-Shil.
HyunAh to me: No, no, no. Waves finger.

me to JiYoon: (hands roses) Happy Valentine’s! These mean Sa-Rang-Hae (points to each rose).
JiYoon to me: Waaw. Thank you.

GaYoon to me (yes she actually spoke first): You’re handsome. (I swear I’m not making this up).
SoHyun to GaYoon: (LOL face).
me to GaYoon: (nervous laughter) I’ll remember that (hands flowers). Happy valentine’s day!

me to SoHyun: These mean So-Hyun-Jjang (hands flowers). Happy Valentine’s day!
SoHyun to me: Waaw. Thank you.

Waited at their hotel again. This time we came with better gifts. You can check it here. And you already know that JIYOON WORE THE FREAKIN’ BRACELET I GAVE HER!!! From Korea at SoHyun’s graduation, all the way to when they arrived in Thailand!!!!!!

Anyway, so manager told us that the girls were in a rush. So 2yoon and SoHyun went up right away after we gave our gifts.
Funny thing happened. GaYoon looked kinda sad/disappointed as we were handing the girls their gifts. But then her face really brightened up when we handed her her gift.

Anyway, JiHyun and HyunAh were ambushed by this mom, who was packing an SLR, and her son. She took like at least 5(!!!) pics of her son with the girls and wanted more! This time with her in the pic. Geez. Even asking us to take the pic for her. But since we dunno how to use an SLR, we declined.

So JiHyun left. Fortunately, we were able to snag HyunAh and take some pics with her.

DAY 4: FEB 7)
The fansigning this day was kinda uneventful for me since security said no handshakes. Even though I know I coulda sneak in one, I thought it was better not to. Cause the girls might’ve contracted a cold or something from the hundreds of handshakes during the first two shows.

Plus, some girl took my red roses and said she’ll be the one to give it to the girls. But she just passed behind the girls and said “this was from him. This was from him.”

Anyway. I had them sign that picture me and my friend had with them on day 2. JiHyun and GaYoon were kinda surprised when they saw it. SoHyun even doodled on it.

So I greeted them Happy Valentine’s Day and waved goodbye to each one after they signed my pic.

(04Feb2010) Fan Account: 4minute Manila Tour Day 1 (4P, 1V)

Like some of the lucky 4minute fans in the Philippines, I got to meet them one day ahead of the start of their mall tour here. But my fateful encounter with 4minute that day was a bit different than most of those who met them last Thursday.

Well I was at work when I decided to slack off around lunch time and check out some 4minute stuff on allkpop, soompi and 4-minute.com. To my surprise, I encountered these:

My immediate reaction: “WTF! I knew I should’ve brought a digicam today.”

This is because my camphone is kinda lo-tech and borderline ancient.

So anyway, I was surprised they got here early. I learned later that they taped for MYX that day. I went to 4-minute.com to see if anyone has updates or news on 4minute’s stay here but didn’t really get any. Then the famous johnnydorama suddenly appeared at the shoutbox (yeah, he is a 4minute fan, particularly HyunAh) and asked around. But since the shoutbox is usually on hibernate during that time, I was the only one on.

Johnny confirmed that 4minute has indeed arrived and that they sent someone named Matt, who is not a Filipino, from allkpop to cover their stay here and do some interviews with the girls. So I asked him if he could hook me up with Matt. Lol. But to no avail.

I read from MYX that 4minute will be staying at Edsa Shangri-La, which was about 3 blocks away from where I was during this time. I was kinda surprised that they would announce the name of the hotel they’re staying in. I guess that’s what happens when the hotel is one of your sponsors. I thought about going to their hotel after work, but I really doubted that they were there. Or if they did, that security would be tight, at least as tight as when 4minute went to Taiwan.

Well it didn’t help that I had to log in two extra hours at work. But while doing some overtime, I was talking to Vinnie from 4-minute.com. I was thinking whether to go to the hotel, make a fool of myself and take my chances. I wanted to go primarily because I thought, “wouldn’t 4minute be disappointed/disheartened if they see no one waiting for them at their hotel?” Of course the second would be to meet the girls in person.

So Vinnie convinced me to go and fake my way around and say I’m the official representative of 4-minute.com or something. Haha. And I was also able to convince someone to go with me. So yeah. We decided to go to their hotel, no cams, no CDs or posters to be signed and with only our camphone on hand. And I was starving.

It was around 9pm when me and my friend got there. Of course we were nervous. And when we got there, the hotel looked so… normal. Quiet. No screaming fans waiting. No banners. None whatsoever. If I didn’t read they were staying there, I would have never knew.

We asked around anyway. We asked the guards and the concierge if this was the place that Korean girl group was staying. And to our surprise, they said yes!!! Hahahaha. I was already excited but got even more excited when they said they haven’t come back yet. Chance!

So we waited in the pastry shop inside the hotel. Bought a slice of cake so the lady won’t ask us to leave. Me and my friend were thinking whether to buy a CD at the nearby Fully Booked store so we won’t look pitiful and have something decent for them to sign because my friend was seriously contemplating on asking 4minute to sign her shorts or shirt.

Anyway, we still weren’t decided if we should buy because 4minute might arrive any moment and we would miss them. Each time a white van came around, we got excited and anxious, thinking that it would be them stepping out of the vehicle. Well I just assumed it was a white van from the pic above. Anyway, I was finally able to convince (dupe? hehe) my friend to go run and buy a CD (the store was located just beside the other entrance of the hotel).

When she left, I borrowed her Samsung Corby and tried to learn how to use it because it has the better cam. So around a couple of minutes after she left, while I was trying to figure out her phone, a white van stopped in front of the hotel entrance. So I casually checked out who it was, hoping it wasn’t 4minute yet.

But WTFFFFFFFFF!!!

I saw five gorgeous girls step down from the van and just stormed out of the store. I immediately ran towards the hotel lobby, completely leaving our stuff in the pastry shop while still trying to figure out how to take pictures with the cam. I was surprised to see a few girls waiting for them actually. And they were prepared! Because they brought some stuff for the girls to sign and a digicam.

Anyway, here’s what I got:

So yeah. I wasn’t able to use the Corby properly. NOob. I know. Because I got overexcited, I somehow set the camera in video mode so I ended up taking vids instead of pics. That vid is actually 4 short clips that I just combined. By the time I figured out how to take pics, JiHyun was signing her last autograph and about to leave. So I approached her and asked if we could take a picture together (this was after I handed the Corby to some random guy and asked him to take a picture of us).

me to JiHyun: (after signing the girl’s autograph) Hi! Can I take a picture with you?
JiHyun to me: (looks at HyunAh, who was standing nearby waiting for her to finish signing stuff) Oh, sorry (bows).
me to JiHyun: Oh ok, bye! See you tomorrow.

Yeah HyunAh is sweet like that. And I didn’t want to nag and be an annoying fan so I just left. The girls were sooooo prettyyyyyy. Fer realz. It’s like “you gotta see it to believe it” kind of pretty. Goodness!

So I went back to the pastry shop and picked up me and my friend’s things and left in a hurry, overjoyed. Yaaaaaaaa.

Fortunately, my friend hasn’t paid for the CD/DVD yet because the person in front of her bought a ton of stuff. I told her to drop the CD because we didn’t need it anymore. Haha and yeah her reaction was priceless: a mix of disgust, disappointment, WTF, constipation, sadness. You name it, she felt it. And it didn’t help that the girls who got to take a pic with 4minute suddenly passed by us giggling and spazzing.

It wasn’t my fault right? Hahaha. I didn’t feel guilty anyway. I reassured her that we’ll get a pic with them next time. I swearrrr.

So 4minute appeared on the latest ep of Star Golden Bell. Yeah, all 5 of them! Hoorah!

So I’m posting some caps and clips from that ep just because JiYoon was just too adorable here, but sadly, it seems like she didn’t get to talk much. Well at least all 5 of them were on this show, at the same time. That’s got to count for something right? It’s a pretty big deal (at least to me) that all members were invited in one ep. It’s not like there are only 3 of them in the group. Anyway, here are 4minute’s SGB cuts care of wintersun’s new YT account.

Besides the girls, Beast’s Doojoon, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon, Super Junior’s Yesung and Shinee’s Key also appeared on what is shaping up to be the best SGB episode evar!!!

Anyway, one of the interesting stories during the ep was shared by Beast’s funny leader Doojoon. Here’s the quote from 4-minute.com:

For the latest recording of the episode of KBS 2TV ‘Star Golden Bell’ which will air on January 16, BEAST’s Yoon Doojoon said, “If we completely reveal our apartment, it will be a disaster.” He also confessed, “Our cleaning lady comes twice a week, but our apartment is so dirty that I can’t look her in the eye.“

When HyunAh heard this, she said, “She must be so tired when she comes to clean our home after going to BEAST’s apartment!“

Doojoon replied, “Ajummah said, ‘But you guys are still cleaner than girl idols!‘” and made the studio burst into laughter.

Not really a big deal since they’re all still kids, which fans tend to forget sometimes. However, a shocking revelation was brought up by the 4minute girls, particularly leader Nam JiHyun and lead vocalist Heo GaYoon.

HyunAh was picked by the members as the member who washes the least. When 4minute’s leader JiHyun was asked why she picked Hyunah, she said, “Maybe it’s because her schedule is full and she’s tired, but sometimes she falls asleep without washing up.” But she added, “When she wakes up, she washes several times.“

GaYoon also said, “HyunAh goes to sleep without washing herself. She wakes up and washes herself really intensely. I think she realizes she’s dirty at that time. Our manager always tells us our room has a weird smell when he comes in. We all wash ourselves and go to bed so we can only think of one person who causes the smell.“

Woah. Talk about kicking a girl when she’s down. Well this is what the embarrassed HyunAh had to say about that matter:

“I don’t think it’s me. I hope it’s not me.“

To salvage her pride, HyunAh brought down the maknae member of 4minute with her when she revealed, “SoHyun’s height is 158cm.“

Nice comeback HyunAh and poor maknae. She didn’t even have anything to do with this to begin with. I wonder what JiYoon thought about all this? Hmm. Sounds like a lover’s spat to me. Don’t you think?

4minute Comeback Stage!!! S-s-s-sexy Muzik!

Updated 2: I replaced the video with this one from Music Core. This performance basically made this entire post irrelevant. Dammit Music Bank. Fortunately, their Music Core comeback was a lot better, from the performance to the costume and stage design, than the one they did at Music Bank (is it me or do all performers these days give their least effort in their MB performances?). I just thought Ji Yoon took off her shades too early. Other than that, this performance was perfect.

INTRO

First, Hyun Ah! She’s insanely scorchin’ lately. And I found out that she just turned 17! Umaygaad! I definitely believe she’s the sexiest female idol below 18 today. She’s become such a temptress in their comeback. And she set the tone with her wicked (FIERCE is so overused right now) rapping in the first part. They went gangsta and pulled it off effortlessly. The all-white outfit was a nice touch. It was a refreshing change from all the black/dark leather costumes among the female groups today.

However, it would have been a lot better if they also included Ji Yoon’s part in For Muzik. I guess they had to do their perf within 4 minutes or something. Hopefully, they’ll include her bit from For Muzik in their subsequent performances, or better yet, do the entire intro, then Muzik. I would have also liked it very much if they showed a close-up of each of the member during For Muzik. The cameraman only focused on Hyun Ah the entire time.

MUZIK

Shaky start for Ji Yoon. I think her herky-jerky dancing is affecting her singing a bit. I also would’ve preferred if she lost the jacket. Show off that sexy body for crying out loud!!! After the MV gave us an overload of Ji Yoon’s oozing sexiness, her perf here left me wanting more. More, Ji Yoon shots I say!

I was surprised that Ji Hyun had as many parts as the Yoon Sisters (Ji Yoon and Ga Yoon). But more surprising was that I think Ga Yoon had the most lines out of the five. Speaking of sisters, what’s up with Ji Hyun’s twin So Hyun? She was like the odd woman out. She already has the fewest lines in the song, so did she really have to do her part in the corner? Poor maknae. She definitely needs to get more camera time.

It was fun watching how the backup dancers suddenly appeared out of nowhere, disappeared, then re-appeared again at the end. Ha! I really liked the systematic chaos in it before coming together in the last part. This got me thinking. If memory serves, with the exception of BEG’s Abracadabra, all the idol groups this year have gone on stage without backup dancers. Backup dancers used to be an essential part of a Kpop performance. Even balladeers had backup dancers. I think this trend of no backups started last year with 10 out of 10, then Gee and Sorry Sorry, all the way to Fire. Is the dancing of the current crop of  idols so good that backup dancers have become unnecessary today? Or are companies just cross-cutting? Discuss.

I’m also digging the d-d-d-d-dancing music part a lot. The choreo kinda reminds me of the rap part of Mirotic. It’s as catchy as the song itself. I almost forgot, but did you see Hyun Ah’s legs? W0Ot! She should definitely do Abracadabra in Ga-in’s outfit at least once. But I think Hyun Ah’s rap part might have looked less awkward if she had a mic in her hand instead.

Overall, I was satisfied with their comeback stage. I was worried that Cube might have rushed the girls (again?) with their comeback but I think they did well. After the Muzik MV came out, I couldn’t wait to see them perform it live. Now, I’m very curious on what adjustments they’ll do for their next perf. Considering she “debuted” her eyes here already, is Ji Yoon going to lose the glasses for good next time? What outfits will they be wearing next time (please no jacket for Ji Yoon)? Next time, will Hyun Ah wear the wig and do the chair dance? Will they perform For Muzik again? And if they do, will they do a longer version with some Ji Yoon in it? Is somebody going to do the split next time? Who will be collaborating with 4minute this time? Will it be 2PM/2AM appearing as the backups next time? Will they put the car in their background next time?

Aigoo…so many questions, so many possibilities. When’s their next performance? I might be slightly disappointed if they don’t shake things up a bit later on. Cube has lots of options to keep 4minute’s Muzik perfs fresh throughout its run, and I have faith that they won’t screw it up. Also, I hope that the camera people/director get the shots right next time. I was borderline nauseous after watching 4minute’s perf. Anyway, congrats to 4minute for a successful comeback. Yeah. The Queen has definitely, ehem, come.

MUZIK Full MV Is Out!!! It’s So Good, I’m Getting Goose Bumps!

HOOOOLLYYY!!! The song itself was already very good on its own, then they add this eye candy of an MV. Wow! I had high expectations for the MV of this song, it being the carrier single of 4minute’s album, and I’m not disappointed. That first 37 seconds of Ji Yoon and Hyun Ah action was too epic for words. I think this was from For Muzik, which is basically an intro song that also serves as the title is for their album. I’m so glad they let Ji Yoon do the English part. Not perfect and a bit hard on the tongue, but definitely a huge improvement over Hyun Ah’s. And what can I say about Hyun Ah’s rap? She’s on the right track to becoming a very good rapper.

But hot damn! I can’t get over how brutal Ji Yoon and Hyun Ah’s was in those 37 seconds. Hyun Ah was like “We’re back bitchez! You want some of this? Come get it!!!!” While Ji Yoon was like, “I got your back. Let’s do this shizz.” They looked like they were ready to rip all their antis into pieces while still bringing the hotness at the same time. Nasty stuff I tell ya. Those hand movements were very slick too.

And did I say that was just the first 37 seconds of the MV???!!!!!

As for the rest of the video, I’m sure 2NE1 fanatics are itching to point out that 4minute once again ripped off the MV concept of 2NE1′s Fire. Probably. If you think Fire was the first MV in the entire history of MVs to put a car in the background.

Is it just me or did Ji Yoon’s dancing improved a lot? It’s like 4minute went from cutesy to ultra-sexy in just a few months. Actually, I was expecting lots of chest pumpin’ in this song, but I guess 4minute wasn’t fully ready to give up their cute image yet for a more adult/mature (ala BEG) one. The steps for the chorus were like an updated version of the So Hot/Tell Me choreo. I still like it though. It’s like half-Hot Issue and half-Abracadabra. That’s a good exercise for the shoulders though.

Everybody, including Ga Yoon, looked very good here. Good thing So Hyun was still acting cute here because her new look is so flirtatious, it should be illegal to look at, especially for adult men. That little skin she showed in this vid is enough to drive an ajusshi wild. And did you see Ji Hyun’s jumping split? Hyun Ah already showed us she can do it (she did it again in this vid), but when Ji Hyun did hers, she was like, “no biggie.”

Still, I wish they spelled the shirts MUZIK instead of MUSIC. Very confusing. Also, I hope Hyun Ah doesn’t wear that wig in their live perfs. For Muzik was a bit too Justin Timberlake-ish and of course the Boom Boom Pow comparisons probably won’t end (at least as long as their haters exists). I bet many of these antis are also the same people who think GD is fresh and original. F-f-f-f-unk you!!!

What gave me the most goose bumps, more than the dope intro, was the M-I-N-U-T-E-4 part. Despite being a newbie, CUBE definitely has some marketing strategies up its sleeves. I like how they didn’t hype the unveiling of Ji Yoon’s eyes too much throughout the course of the MV, but when it got to that part, it was like BOOM! I knew it was coming but it still caught me off guard and worth a million replays. And holy mother of Zeus! Ji Yoon is too gorjuzzz for words! Then Hyun Ah did her chair dance, and the camera zooms in on her butt at the very exact moment it warranted a close-up. Park Bom who? Then she did the split again! Who’s gonna do it next? So Hyun? Ga Yoon? Ji Yoon??!!

Maybe I’m just a sucker for upbeat, dance songs. The bass slaps were a very nice touch, thank you very much. It’s going to be interesting once 2NE1 starts promoting Pretty Boy. Be prepared for another episode of 4minute bashing from 2NE1 diehards. Actually, they’ve practically concluded that the rivalry between 2NE1 and 4minute is a no contest.

Will this MV shut up the Hyun Ah haters who say she hogs too much of 4minute’s spotlight? Maybe they’ll start throwing bricks at Ji Yoon instead, with her being the focal point of the video and all. Whatever dirt they come up with, I’m sure 4minute will find a way, again, to shut them up.
